2026 Marketplace Changes

There are several changes to marketplace health insurance that may impact your coverage. These changes could affect costs, eligibility and enrollment requirements.

Premium Increases

Congress is cutting tax credits that help lower the cost of coverage for Illinoisans. This means costs will go up for many of our customers.

In 2026, Get Covered Illinois customers will pay on average $130 more per month for coverage unless Congress acts.

Financial help will still be available in 2026, but many enrollees could receive less than they did before.

Read more about premium increases on our Cost Changes for Get Covered Illinois Customers page.

Insurers no longer offering coverage on the marketplace

Some insurers are no longer offering plans through the marketplace. CVS, Aetna, Health Alliance and Quartz will no longer offer plans throughout Illinois. Celtic will no longer offer Bronze plans throughout the state. Cigna will no longer offer plans in Cook County.

If you are currently enrolled in any plans offered by the above insurers, your coverage will remain in place until December 31, 2025. You will automatically be enrolled in a similar plan for 2026. We encourage you to shop and compare options when open enrollment begins on November 1 to ensure you have a plan that best fits your needs and budget. Learn more about what plans are changing on our 2026 plan changes page.

Changes to Coverage for Immigrants

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients are no longer eligible for marketplace health or dental insurance. The federal government ended their coverage on August 31, 2025.

The federal government is also making coverage for some Illinoisians less affordable by restricting access to subsidies for certain lawfully present immigrants.

More changes to come

The federal government is making more changes that will make health insurance more expensive and harder for Illinoisans to get. Some of these changes include a shorter Open Enrollment Period for plan year 2027 and no more automatic reenrollment for plan year 2028.

We will continue to communicate with our customer as changes occur.
