Using your plan
You picked a health plan. Now learn how to make sure your coverage starts on time and you know how to use it.
Make your first payment
- Once you make your first monthly premium payment, you can start using your plan.
- Make sure to pay each month to keep your coverage.
Choose an in-network primary care provider (PCP)
You need to make sure that your PCP works with your health plan before you make an appointment. To find this information, you can:
- Call your health plan or go to their website to learn about providers and healthcare facilities in your plans network.
- Search the provider network for your specific plan, as some providers may be in-network for certain plans and out-of-network for others.
- If your doctor is not in-network, you can change plans during the next Open Enrollment Period or sooner if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
Get care
- If you need care right away, you can call your health plan to make sure your coverage is active.
- Once you know your doctor is in-network and covered by your health plan, you can start scheduling appointments.
- In an emergency, go to the nearest hospital. Your plan must cover emergency services even if the hospital is not in your plan's network.
- If you need a prescription, your pharmacy can call to make sure you are covered.
