Open Enrollment has ended. You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
If you recently experienced a qualifying life event, you may still be able to enroll in health coverage through a Special Enrollment Period. Medicaid coverage is available year-round for those who qualify.
About Open Enrollment
- Open enrollment happens once each year, typically beginning in the fall. During open enrollment, Illinois residents can enroll in or change health plans without needing a qualifying life event.
- Outside of open enrollment, you may still be able to enroll if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period or Medicaid.
Who can still enroll?
- Illinois residents who recently experienced a qualifying life event and do not currently have health coverage
- People already enrolled in a Get Covered Illinois plan who had a recent life change and need to update their coverage
Special Enrollment Period
- A Special Enrollment Period allows you to enroll in health coverage outside of Open Enrollment if you experience a qualifying life event, such as losing coverage, getting married, having a baby, or moving.
- If you have a qualifying life event, you may be able to get health coverage during a Special Enrollment Period.
