Tax Time Easy Enrollment

If you file your taxes, this selection starts an easy process that will help you enroll. Any uninsured Illinoisan and their household members are eligible to enroll in coverage through Tax Time Easy Enrollment.

How It Works

Step 1: Check the box

A question on your state tax forms (IL-1040) will ask if you want to share some of your information, like your household size and income. By checking the box (Health Insurance Checkbox in line 42) on the tax return, you are giving permission for the Illinois Department of Revenue to share information with Get Covered Illinois.

Step 2: Receive a notice

Shortly after you file your taxes, we will mail you a notice explaining your eligibility for free or low-cost health coverage. You will have 60 days from the date on your notice to sign up for a health plan.

Step 3: Claim your account

Once you receive your notice you can claim your account. If you already have a Get Covered Illinois account, you can log in here and move to step 4.

Step 4: Complete your application

Follow the steps on your account to complete your application.

Step 5: Shop and enroll

Compare plans, search for providers, and enroll in a plan that fits your health needs and budget.
